News Hub
The News Hub web part enables seamless integration and consolidation of news articles from different sources. Administrators can easily configure the web part to pull news articles from any SharePoint site within the organization. This ensures that all relevant and important news is readily accessible in one centralized location, saving users valuable time and effort.
This web part offers visual enhancements. It incorporates color coding for sites and categories, allowing users to quickly identify and differentiate news articles from various sources or topics. This visual distinction enhances user experience and streamlines news consumption.

How to configure News Hub
- If you are not already in edit mode on your page, select Edit on the top right of the page.
- Select Edit details at the top of the web part
- Hover over the icon and type ‘Sprocket News Hub’
- Click on Add
- Provide a Site name
- Input the site URL (the absolute URL)
- Input the SharePoint REST API filter
- Input a category field name
- Input site HEX value or colour name
Can I see news from more than one site?
Yes, news can be obtained from multiple sites. To see single site news, select the site in the drop down filter. Filters are applied by site, category and date.
How to complete Category field name field?
- Select Edit details at the top of the web part
- Create a term set
- +Add a managed meta data column in the site pages library of site
- Web part configuration - enter the name of the new column (above step 8)
- Filtering option appears in drop down menu
- Option will only appear if there is a news post tagged to that term
How to create a news post
- Click the top left hand +New drop down. Select ‘News Post’
- Select the desired template
- Input your news post contents.
- Select the comments toggle On/Off
- Post News
